Explore the lifecycle of materials, from extraction and processing to their integration into products: -Evaluate the environmental and social impacts of different materials, with an emphasis on sustainable alternatives available in the market. -Understand innovative approaches to sustainable textile production, including organic fibers, eco-friendly dyes, and energy-efficient manufacturing, as well as globally recognised standards. Upcycling and End-of-Life Strategies: -Learn about upcycling techniques and circular economy principles BEFORE the design choices of a garment are made. -Develop skills to assess effective disposal and recycling methods, minimising environmental impact. -Examine real-world examples of sustainable design practices, circular economy principles and their outcomes (NZ & Abroad). Future Trends and Innovations in Sustainability: -Explore emerging trends and technologies shaping the future of sustainable design. -Innovation in creating digital and virtual fashion, and where this future is taking us- online and beyond.
